Nullarbor trilogy

Nullarbor1  Nullarbor2  Nullarbor3

These three pieces are of the low scarp that lies to the north of the Eyre Highway which crosses the Nullarbor Plain between Western Australia and South Australia. The limestone scarp is the edge of the Hampton Tableland – in places the limestone forms steep cliffs that drop into the Southern Ocean but here they are edged by a sandy plain and low tough vegetation. As we drove along this road my eye was drawn to the line of deep green vegetation that lies at the base of the scarp – where any rain would gather.

Each piece is 10cms X 10cms, in gouache and pencil on paper.
