This is my first drawing of a hill that’s also an island in a salt, or gypsum lake called Monger’s Lake. Monger’s Lake is west of Paynes Find, an old gold mining town on the Great Northern Highway in Western Australia. The lake is now part of the Karara Rangeland Park.
I love this part of Western Australia – there are the remains of old mines and sheep stations as well as large areas where rehabilitation of the environment is taking place. It’s a good place to inspire some drawing!
