Small works

I’m getting some work ready for an exhibition at the end of November at Contemporary Art Spaces Mandurah. Called Small Treasures the show is designed to give artists a chance to sell small works as Christmas presents. The pieces have to be less than 30cm by 30cm in size and the retail price is to be no more than $300. It’s a good incentive to make some neat small work that will hopefully sell. I’ve already made a few using some of my small maps. Framing them and getting them to look good as gifts is a challenge – I try to use frames that I have picked up over the years – from Ikea or op-shops. There will be a lot of artists in the exhibition so it should provide a wide range of work for people to choose from.

Here’s one of my pieces in the process of framing.

It’s spring and we’ve been seeing a lot of flowers on our walks in the bush. The pic at the top is one of the Cunzeas in flower – at least I think that’s what it is.
